ON SEPTEMBER 24TH COME OUT AND SUPPORT BRINGING RECOVERY TO YOUR LOCAL CT SCHOOL!
September is National Recovery Month and it is with great pride that Connecticut Turning to Youth and Families (CTYF) invites you to join in on a Recovery Month Celebration. This year The Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) is hosting the 12th Annual Recovery Walks! This is a powerful event in support of Recovery from Alcohol and Other Drug Addiction that you do not want to miss!
CTYF in partnership with the Association of Recovery Schools (ARS) is seeking to raise awareness of the importance of bringing peer support and recovery to Connecticut schools. CT current does not have peer support and recovery school options for our students unlike many other states – that is why CTYF is asking YOU and YOUR colleagues to come and walk in support of bringing school-based youth recovery programs to our communities at this event.
During Recovery Month communities nationwide join together to help people understand that substance use and mental disorders are treatable, just like chronic diseases, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
So come on down to Bushnell Park in Hartford on Saturday, September 24th from 10:00am to 2:00pm and participate in the 12th Annual Recovery Walks and help us bring peer support and recovery to schools in our community. Let’s represent and show our community officials just how important it is to support young people in finding and sustaining recovery!
From 10:00am to 2:00pm CTYF will be giving out HOT new t-shirts to all volunteers and the festivities include live musical entertainment, arts & crafts, children’s activities exhibitors, and many food vendors with the Walk beginning at 12:30pm.
To sign up as a volunteer or for more information email gregw@ctyouthandfamilies.org, or call 860-838-3553. CCAR’s informational event flier attached.
We look forward to seeing you there!
