Contributing To CT Youth and Families With Your Time or Money

Dear Friend,

No place left to turn? That's what many youth and families of problem alcohol and drug users deal with on a daily basis, especially over the holiday time.

Asking a professional for help can seem impossible, money can be tight, or your youth resists the idea that there is a problem. Nothing may seem to work, and the situation can seem to be escalating or hopeless.

Why get involved with Connecticut Turning to Youth and Families?
Because Alcohol and Other Drugs happen in any Family, in any neighborhood, in any school, town or city. Alcohol and other drug problems brings along deep denial that effects the entire family.

Youth need support from other youth who don't force solutions. We understand all the emotions and fears because that is right where we were, and we felt pretty alone. Life can be hard sometimes for youth, when you know you need help or you are worried about a friend, a brother, a sister or a parent.

Parents need someplace to turn when you are worried about your kids. Embarrassed, ashamed and isolated we know how it may feel. Families who have been there don't tell anyone what to do or what to think. From their own stories there is gentle wisdom, and lots of strength and compassion. We believe in helping other youth and families to have the freedom to find their own solutions.

Professionals need a place to refer students, clients, or acquaintances for peer support. Positive peer support is the best friend for any provider.

Connecticut Turning to Youth and Families (CTYF) are volunteers whose mission it is to help youth and families facing drug and alcohol problems connect with prevention, treatment and recovery services through a statewide network of peer-to-peer supports. We are a unified voice of people who have "been there" working together to strengthen families and communities, improve policies and practices, and, above all, save lives.

Today you can make your fully tax-deductible contribution online to CTYF as we are a 501(c)3 non-profit charity. We will send you a thank you letter for tax-return purposes and please check back with ctyouthandfamilies.org often so you will be able to see for yourself what it is that we, and you, are doing.
